(S)-methyl-2-chloropropionate is a flammable liquid (flash point below 60 °C, Category 3). Store in a dedicated flammable storage cabinet, away from oxidisers and ignition sources. Use explosion-proof electrical equipment in storage areas. Containers must be kept tightly closed and grounded during transfer to prevent static discharge.

(S)-methyl-2-chloropropionate is classified as a specific target organ toxicant (STOT). Exposure must be minimised using engineering controls (local exhaust ventilation, closed systems).
